Prayers and Scripture

Prayers for peace

A restless mind longs for peace, but peace is not something we can force into being. It is a gift God gives, even in the middle of unsettled days.

These verses speak of a peace that does not depend on everything going right. Let them quiet you.

A prayer for peace

Prince of Peace, my heart has been troubled and my thoughts will not settle. I come looking for the peace that only you can give, the kind the world cannot offer and cannot take away. Guard my heart and my mind, and let your peace stand watch over both. Where there is conflict, bring reconciliation. Where there is unrest, bring stillness. Where I have been striving to hold everything together, teach me to lay it down and trust you. Let your peace rule in my heart, deciding what gets to take up space there. I receive the peace you leave with me now, and I choose not to let my heart be afraid. Help me to lie down and rest tonight, knowing that you alone keep me safe. Thank you for being my peace. Amen.
