Prayers and Scripture
Prayers for marriage
Every marriage goes through seasons, some tender and some strained. Inviting God into your relationship changes how you love, forgive, and grow together.
These verses speak of a love that is patient and unselfish. Pray them over your marriage and your home.
A prayer for marriage
Lord, thank you for the gift of this marriage and for the person you have joined to me. I bring our relationship to you, the strengths and the strains alike. Teach us to love each other the way you love us, with patience, kindness, and a willingness to forgive. Where we have grown distant, draw us back together. Where pride and old hurts have built walls, give us the humility to tear them down. Help us to bear with one another and to put on love, which binds everything together. Make our home a place of grace, where it is safe to be honest and quick to be reconciled. What you have joined, let no one separate, including our own selfishness. Renew our commitment, deepen our friendship, and let our marriage reflect your faithfulness. Bless us, keep us, and grow us together in you. Amen.

You do not need the perfect words to bring marriage to God. Pray the words above as they are, or let them be a starting point for your own. He hears the honest prayer, and he is near to everyone who calls on him. Return to this page whenever you need to, and pray as often as your heart needs.
